We are with Etrade, who has always treated us as if we are a valuable client. Bivio syncs with Etrade so it's all good.

Bob,
My Model Club has challenged the idea of only the person that opens the account can write checks. Our first treasurer (who opened the account) is no longer a partner and has nothing to do with the Club any longer.
Our new treasurer can write checks as can an alternate (our president).

Most brokerages, i do believe, will allow you to change signatories, but some will require partnership approval, i.e., a copy of the minutes approving said change, name, rank, serial number, and signatures of all the partners. Bureaucracy reigns with the brokerages. As an alternative, get a signature stamp and use it forever.

Sorry to barge in on your conversation but how do you get a signature stamp. Our club has numerous brokerage firms and it took me numerous signature medallions, letters of instruction and all kinds of things to get everything changed to me. It was such a hassle. Each one wanted something different. The previous treasurer died of cancer.

Right. The first time is truly a hassle. But going forward you can use the stamp for simple things like signing checks. Looks at the checks you get from most companies--they are not signed by hand but by an "autosigner". The signature stamp can be used until the club decides to change brokerages, or whatever. Many companies us them. The main (or only) check signer leaves, and then what do you do? At least if you have the stamp it can be used until you need to change things.
Below is an ad from Vistaprint for a signature stamp.

We've had good luck with TD Ameritrade--- good support, statements and tax documents available on schedule. The only issue is when you change Club officers and want to make the change in TDA, it's a very onerous process.

Oh! I see. I thought you meant something the bank guarantees. But good idea. Thanks. Lorna

We were with Scottrade for almost fifteen years until they recently were taken over by TDAmeritrade. TD is fairly new to us and the transfer of information in the merger was not too bad to figure out in our books with Bivio. It has been just a new learning curve being with a new stock broker. So far so good!
My
investment group is Affluent Alliance LLC. We were wondering which brokerage
company has the best service. We recently signed up for Bivio and were trying to
decide. Any help would be most appreciated! Thank
