Since I took over as treasurer of my club, there has been an
$8 error in the account total for our bank. I have not been
able to find out why, only that it was there when I got the
books and has remained exactly the same.

Is there a way to cancel out this error at the end of the
year and start fresh?

Yes. When the amount is small like this and also, when the amount is consistent from month to month, there are correcting entries we can help you make.

We recommend that all clubs reconcile their records each month so that differences like this don't pop up and continue for a long time. They're much easier to find and correct if you only have one months worth of transactions to look through.
