More Options Education
Thank you Barry for your detailed example yesterday of how options might be used in conjunction with a situation such as the bivio demo club has where 45% of it's assets are now in Apple.

And thank you Jim for the two links you provided comparing the use of Stop Loss orders to using options strategies for downside price protection.

For any who are interested in learning more about Options trading strategies, The Motley Fool is running an educational series which you might find informative.

Hi Laurie,
Speaking of Options Education, my club is actively selling covered calls and doing quite well, so far. But the bookkeeping is very different from regular trades, and I'm just not real comfortable with it. I would be interested in a webinar on the subject of options accounting in bivio. Items covered could include the entry screens and why and how we enter our options, to where to find them after they expire, to how we are supposed to track our performance on them. I'm assuming that you guys will handle the year-end reporting, but I'd love to see it, in advance, if possible. Maybe others with limited exposure to options bookkeeping might have some good questions they'd like covered, as well.
Thanks,

I think you should also mention bivio's educational series: know your options
Barry

Hi Lynn,

Good idea. We will plan on that. Anything else your club might like to share about your experiences might be interesting to others too so feel free to update us on your experiences.

We do handle the tax reporting for you. There will not be new categories in your tax reporting that are related to your options trades. They will affect your capital gains. You can see the impact now on the Capital Gains and Losses Report.

I think you just did Barry. If anyone else is unfamiliar with what he is referring to, it's Mark Wolfingers Know Your Options Column on our home page. If you look through his historical posts you can find a very nice fundamental series about trading options starting with this post
