Field Trips _ attn: Laurie Frederiksen
Ladies Investment 10 of Lubbock (TX) made a field trip to the local Tractor Supply store--this isaa stock that we own.  We had lunch prior to the visit for some social time and then went to the store and had a very good interview with the manager and also the regional manager who happened to be there that day. We asked questions about the business and discovered that another store will be opened in our city.  We explored the store and observed other people and their shopping choices. We had a great time!
We had made advanced arrangements with the manager for the visit. This visit took the place of a regularly scheduled study session and did not take the place of our regular investment club meeting.

This field trip was so successful that we have decided to visit another business in which we hold stock.  In July,( a month in which we do not hold a formal investment club meeting) we will again use our study session date to have lunch and visit the local Fastinal store.

Investing can be a lot of fun!

Good morning everyone,

I got a question today about field trip ideas for an investment club.

I'm curious whether any of your clubs have gone on a field trip?  If so,  where did you go and what did you do?

Doing something a little bit different every now and then is fun.

Thanks in advance.

Jean,

That is a good idea too.  I had not thought of going to a local store in which you own stock.  We have a Fastenal store here in Granbury.  It would also be a good idea to visit a prospective (stock) store and maybe visit with the manager.  Of course, advance arrangements would be necessary.  I’ve never been in a Fastenal store, but I think that’s a great idea for a field trip.

I can easily think or other prospects…Lowes, Home Depot, CVS, Walgreen, … not just shopping in the store, but actually meeting with the manager and discussing the company and it’s business.
