When I visited the site a few minutes ago, our club's
Communications>Files page had changed completely. I wanted

Will it go back to the way it was before after the upgrade
or is this the final product for Communications>Files? If
it is, how do I add a new folder?

Hi Everyone,

There are some new things in the files area. Next to each folder or file you have uploaded, you'll only see one link now that says "Modify". Selecting it will lead you to more choices. You'll be able to do what you could do before, upload, create subfolders, rename and delete folders.

If you have any Public files, you will see they've all been moved to a folder named Public. This is a change from the old system where you checked a box to make a file public.

Feel free to give us feedback on any of the changes. I'm sure the programmers are interested in your thoughts and comments.

I do not like how the mail looks now. I liked the subject and threads. Is there a way to search mail? I don't want to go through endless pages looking for something.

There is (or was) a message that got sent to bivio by mistake and when I go to delete I get 2 boxes:
1 - Message deleted
2 - The page requested was not found or is not functioning properly. Go back to the previous page, and try something different.
Go back does not seem to work.
The only way I seem to be able to get out of this is by selecting the site again or logging out and logging in.

I hope this the upgrade to mail is still inprogress.

Hi Marcia,

As you know, the old system did not let you search mail or files. We
are working on an upgrade which will allow you to search both mail and
files in the new system. One of the reasons for the change to the
files and mail area is to allow you access to a lot of new features,
which we couldn't make available with the old system.

There are a number of features in the new version already. For
example, you can "undo" an accidental file deletion or an update.
There's a folder called "Archived" which contains all the deleted and
old versions of files.

We are working on updating the help pages. This will provide more
information on the features available in the new system.

We have a fix for this bug on our test system. It should be released
within the day. We apologize for the error.

Cheers,
Rob
I have been on the bivio site several times this morning and I'm hoping things will improve. What you had before worked well for me, however, at this point many of the files I can't open and the mail area doesn't work as well as it did in the past. Some of the messages apear to be corrupted.

Before I can do any of this I need to be able to open our files.

We will be happy when things are back to normal.

Butch

Would you email support@bivio.com with the file names you can't open?

Please let us know what you find doesn't work as well.

This is a bug which will be fixed early next week.

We are working hard to improve the services we offer at bivio. One of
the most important features that has been missing for the last decade
is the ability to search your files and mail. This will be available
shortly with the new system.

We realize that changes to the interface are sometimes difficult to
understand. These changes are necessary to upgrade bivio.com to be
more reliable and to allow us to expand our services. Some exciting
new features will be available in the coming months.

Cheers,
Rob
Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for the feedback. It is extremely valuable to us to hear your thoughts.

In this upgrade, there are some slightly unsettling changes in some of the ways we're all used to doing things. There is a little bit of a learning curve to adjust to them. But I do want to make sure everyone understands that the reason for them is to lay the groundwork for some pretty cool stuff that will be coming in the future.

While it certainly wasn't broke, it was limited. The changes you're seeing are opening the way for progress toward some new horizons. There's still room to tweak the interface so we want to hear your input. We are committed to making sure we all work together to keep bivio the best club accounting website out there.

Laurie -- it looks like most of the changes will be great
once they are finished; however, I really miss [need] the
"unzip" options re-established. We work on a good bit of
our content offline, zip, post, and unzip. Any indication
when this will be back?

Thanks,

Jimmy (polymerguy@yahoo.com)
