Scary Investing Stories

Scary Investing Stories Hi Everyone, It's almost Halloween weekend. Does anybody have any scary investing stories? One of the first stocks one of my clubs bought was a telcom stock during the telcom bubble in the late 1990's. It certainly scared us. As it dropped, we realized we knew nothing about that industry and had no business buying companies whose business we didn't understand. We haven't bought a telcom stock since. Anybody own Enron? On a lighter Halloween note, In one of my clubs we own Chipotle (CMG). The stockwatcher found out during the earnings conference call last week that if you dress up like some type of junk food and go into a Chipotle restaurant, you can get a burrito for only $2.00. We discussed whether we should pursue that as a club research activity. We might have, but the nearest Chipotle is a 2.5 hour drive away from where we are. It is however, fun to talk about what a Kraft Macaroni and Cheese costume might look like. Hope you have a great weekend. -- Laurie Frederiksen Invest with your friends! www.bivio.com Become our Facebook friend! www.facebook.com/bivio Follow us on twitter! www.twitter.com/bivio Our very first stock purchase was Enron....that was disappointing. And we held onto it until the bitter end. At least it taught us something about learning to let go!

Desperate, Orlyss (That's kind of scary, cause I don't want to disband) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Laurie Frederiksen" <laurie@bivio.biz> To: "The Club Cafe" <club_cafe@bivio.com> Sent: Friday, October 29, 2010 7:21 AM Subject: club_cafe: Scary Investing Stories Hi Everyone, It's almost Halloween weekend. I've been fighting bad weather and power outages all week so some things have gotten backed up. I was going to suggest that you post a request here to see if there are any Arizona clubs that might be looking for members. You could also post a request on our new bivio Facebook page. www.facebook.com/bivio Who knows, maybe someone has a friend, or a friend of a friend.... Good luck, I'm not sure what the circumstances are with your club but you can keep a club going even if you only have a couple of active members. My club had 4 members for several years and we did fine. All four were active and that's what matters. Laurie |
