QUESTION on International Stock Valuation - Non US Dollar denominated Hellow How do you recommend to keep record of a foreign stock position... lets say that you have an Interactive Brokers Account, and purchase shares of NICE SPA, a small home automation company listed in the Milan Stock Exchange... its shares are denominated in EUROS? How would you go about to register the purchase? and how about the valuation? regards... Tom You have to convert the foreign transaction amounts to $US on the date of the transaction. Some brokers may do this for you. I have no idea if Interactive Brokers will.

Dear Tom, The other thing to note is that it is most likely the stock pricing will not be provided in our pricing data feed. That just means you will need to track this as an unlisted investment and update it's price manually any time you need a valuation to conduct club business. If such a valuation is needed, you will be requested to update the pricing at the time you make the entry. Make sure to do that! -- Laurie Frederiksen Invest with your friends! www.bivio.com Follow us on twitter! www.twitter.com/bivio |
