I'm Not An Accountant
We sometimes have investment club treasurers who are worried they
can't handle the job tell us,  "I'm not an accountant".

The whole point of using bivio is so that you don't need to be an
accountant to be an investment club treasurer.   Beneath the easy to
use bivio interface, there is some serious partnership accounting
going on, but you don't have to understand it.  You just need to
understand that certain entries have to be made a certain way.   For
example, member contributions and withdrawals.

One of the things many people don't realize is the fact that when you
make a contribution to or withdrawal from your club, you are not just
moving cash into and out of a brokerage account.  You are purchasing
or redeeming shares of ownership in your partnership.

As a member of a partnership, you have a capital account.  Your
deposits and withdrawals affect it's balance.    Your capital account
is tracked for the entire time you belong to your club.  It changes
when you add or withdraw funds and when your share of  income and
expenses are allocated to you.  Keeping your capital account accurate
and up to date is some of the accounting bivio does for you.

All you need to do, as the club treasurer, is make sure that member
contributions are entered using the payment form.    Same with
withdrawals.  Use the withdrawal form to enter the information about
the funds being withdrawn.  Using these forms gives bivio the
information that it needs to do the accounting required to properly
adjust the capital accounts.   You fill in the form.  bivio does the
accounting.

You don't need to know what journal entries are made or what ledgers
need to be updated.  In fact, you don't even need to know what
journals and ledgers are!

It's pretty easy  to fill in the forms.  That's why we say anyone can
be an investment club treasurer.  You don't have to be an accountant!
