REALTIVE PERFORMANCE OF PYRAMID 350 TO OTHER CLUBS Our Investment Club, Pyramid 350, according to Bivio calculations, has a posted annualized rate of return (IRR) of 18.1% since 12/31/2006. Where does this performance rank us among other investment clubs? Within the Bivio monitored clubs, what is the average and what is the highest performance? Is this type of information available? Hi Don, I don't know of that type of info being available anywhere. There's a "Performance Benchmark" report you can run, to compare your IRR to a mutual fund. I don't know if you know about that. For our club, we have an IRR of 5.7% for 12/31/06 to 6/05/08, while the Vanguard 500 Index Fund, for example, has an IRR of -0.3% (yes, negative). The report takes into account when deposits & withdrawals are made, so you might not get the same number for Vanguard. At 18.1%, though, I'd say you're doing pretty darn well. Got any hot stock tips ;-) ? Is this type of information available? Comparing IRR between different clubs is very difficult. The problem is the cash flows. We can compare against a mutual fund, because it has a daily NAV which is smoothed out by the size of a portfolio a typical mutual fund holds. The cash flows don't affect the NAV of a mutual fund that much, but they greatly affect an investment club. Cheers, Rob |
