Question for TD Ameritrade clients

Question for TD Ameritrade clients Our club wants to add a person but we do not know the proper way to inform our broker, TD Ameritrade. I have emailed and called TD a few times but have been given different answers. Please let me know what you have done to add members to your broker account. We have been very happy with their customer service up to this point so I am surprised at the lack of knowledge on this transaction. John ABODI Investment Club Anaheim, CA We also use TD Ameritrade and have had the same experience. The customer service staff doesn't seem to know how to handle investment clubs. In the past, we have simply sent them a copy of our amended partnership agreement executed by all the new partners for their records. I'm very interested to learn how other clubs have handled this. John ABODI Investment Club Anaheim, CA While this may not be kosher, I have chosen for our club to just leave TDA out of it. We have the same two people signed up as agents to do business with them, they have copies of our original PA and signatures on the first members when we started with them, and we have copies of all resignations and New Member Partnership Agreement forms since then. Keeping these forms all in one place with the original PA is a good practice to follow. Just as a recommendation, the paper jam process of switching agents who can make buys and sells can be eliminated or reduced by keeping the same persons in that role, even if another member is the club treasurer and doing the accounting. Gene Rooks, SWIM, Orlando I wrote a lettter to TDA to let them know how their customer service sucks in regards to knowledge of investment clubs. They called me immediately to let me know the correct way to do this. They say that you do not have to let them know when a member joins or leaves the club. You only have to fill out the Trading Authorization form for Investment Clubs if you change the people who are responsible to do trades. John Rice ABODI Investment Club |
