Valuation date arghhh

Valuation date arghhh We just updated our P.A. to be clear on what the valuation date is, and specified it is the Friday before the meeting. So yesterday 2/08/08 was the valuation date for the January 14 checks that were deposited in TDAmeritrade on 1/31/08. In bivio, I am unable to enter a TRANSACTION DATE of 1/31 and a VALUATION DATE of 2/8. I'm really tempted to once again change the PA so the Valuation Date is the same as the Brokerage Statement date. That way, I can compare the Brokerage Statement with the Valuation Report they will be the same date. What do you think? thanks, Etana Etana, you have the cart before the horse here. You don't deposit payments, and then do a valuation at a later date to apply to them. bivio is looking for a valuation date earlier than the date your payments were entered, not a later date. Your January payments should be valued according to what you said your PA calls for on the Friday before they were collected. The valuation you did on Feb. 8th will be used for the payments you collect next week. Payments buy units at the value on the last valuation taken, not the next one. Gene arghhh thanks Gene and Ira. Got it wrong for the past year. So the Treasurer Carol and I are not going to go back to the 4 withdrawals of the past year, that would be horrendous re-work... .... but what should we do? We are about to be audited by the club. 1. Change valuation dates for all of 2007 & 2008? 2. Change valuation dates for just 2008 and go forward with our education? I prefer the second, of course. thanks, Etana Gene Rooks wrote: > Etana, you have the cart before the horse here. Gene Etana, I would like to think that bivio entry screens wouldn't even let you enter a future date for a member payment deposit. You seemed to indicate as much in your original posting when you said you couldn't get one to go through. Maybe your previous member payment entries went through OK, or at least defaulted to the day posted. Can you view one of them without changing anything to see what transpired? My usual advice when problems like that are discovered is to not touch anything that has already been reported to the IRS. If the treasurer/club didn't catch something earlier, they just have to live with the consequences, and as you say go forward with your education.. If you haven't yet submitted K-1's and 1065 for 2007, you could edit those member payment transactions, and see what it does to your member withdrawals. If there is a problem, let us know what a workaround would be. Gene |
