Time based vs Snapshot- Definition?

Time based vs Snapshot- Definition? I'm teaching a class this weekend in Maine. How do I explain the difference and support the recommendation for Time Based. I know you've talked about it a lot but I can't find the basic explanation. How does a member gain from Time based? Is it different from a mutual fund? Thanks. Randy Roody Granite State Chapter. Randy, mutual funds also use Time Based earnings. What time based means is you are allocated only your ownership share percentage of capital gains, losses, expenses, and income of the club that occur while you are a member. Partners who are members all year will see little if any impact, but a partner who joins late in the year will not be allocated the whole year's items, only the ones since he joined based on his percentage. If he put in a chunk to start with, his percentage will be larger, if just a minimum investment, it won't amount to much.. It already works that way for one who withdrew earlier in the year, when they withdraw, they are only allocated their percentage share of what has occurred up to that point. Gene Rooks, Orlando |
