bivio logo for club website

bivio logo for club website I admire Lynn Ostrem's website for Crow River (http://www.bivio.com/crowriver) but decided something that good was a lot of work. So I'm trying out Blogger (http://vistosovip.blogspot.com). The blogging software is easy to use. It also offers some integration with Google docs. My general plan is to put documents at bivio or Google, and links to them in the blog. I'd like to provide a link to bivio at our blog, maybe in the page footer. I can of course use text, but I'd rather have the logo. I need something smaller than the one at top left of the bivio pages. Has anybody done this already? Might want to grab the one of the report pages. Cheers, Rob Hi Mike!
Thank you for the compliment on the Crow River website, but
it's really not that much work if you like doing that sort of thing.
Graphics are free all over the web, and web design programs are cheap and
easy to learn. You can find them at Officemax or Office
Depot.
But all that isn't even necessary. If you have Microsoft
Word, you can create a nice page, complete with pictures, graphics, web URLs, or
whatever, and arrange them in the same fashion as you would on a blog.
Microsoft even has templates for newsletters and blogs.
Then, simply "save as" and choose "web page" as the type of
document. If you name the page "index", you can upload it to the root
of your files page and bivio's server will recognize it as your homepage.
There are several clubs on Bivio that have done this, and their
pages look very nice.
When you want to update the page, simply use the "replace"
function. I do that every month with our Clubhouse Matters
Page. (Write to me privately if you need to me to better explain what I just
wrote!)
To me, the key luxury of Bivio (aside from their terrific
accounting) is the Files Page. Most clubs don't take full advantage of
it. I consider it the cornerstone of our club hub. Sure, my graphics
and links are nice, but my own club members rarely use them. They are
more for show (a resource for visitors).
Our Files Page is the hub of our universe. The secretary
uploads her minutes. The president posts her agenda. The research
team (and the stock watchers) post their analyst reports, conference call notes,
and quarterly reports. I upload occasional educational materials.
Some of this is done on public pages. Most of it is in our own private
little world in private folders. Bivio gives us the opportunity to do
both.
What I'm trying to say is this. Life is too short to be
managing 2 or 3 websites for investment club activites. People put
way too much time into duties that don't even begin to help with
returns...the lifeblood of any club. Keep it simple. There's a way
to do all this without setting up a bivio/blog/google interactive network.
You can accomplish the whole thing right here!
Good luck with your endeavor! Write to me if you need
any help.
