download the original posts and use PDF cute or something to put it into PDF
format.
Again, I think it's too bad that the original wasn't put
into pdf format and made available for download.

I've been doing the taxes for my club for 13 years and this year, for the first time, I've got a volunteer to do the job instead. I want to give them something to read through. I may also remove all the references to CA3 and CAO since they aren't relevent for our club (which uses bivio). I may also move the stuff about REITs and mutual funds to an appendix. That should eliminate several pages of material and make the process look less daunting. -Jim Thomas Jim: Would you mind sharing this with the other treasurers? Looks like you put a lot of work into this. I use bibio. For several reasons, at present, I think I'd be on shakey ground if I were to distribute an edited version. (1) It's Ira's material and I haven't discussed that idea with him. (2) The people at bivio haven't approved the bivio-specific information and there is a place or two where Ira says he doesn't know the best way to handle some unusual things in bivio. (3) I haven't actually followed the instructions myself (yet). Anyone can read the complete workshop at http://www.stockcentral.com/community/tabid/143/forumid/289/tpage/1/view/Topic/postid/1739/language/en-US/Default.aspx -Jim Thomas I understand and Thanks anyway. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Thomas" <jimt@bivio.com> To: <club_cafe@bivio.com> Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2008 4:48 PM Subject: club_cafe: Re: Tax preparation-first time >> Would you mind sharing this >> with the other treasurers? > > For several reasons, at present, I think I'd be on shakey > ground if I were to distribute an edited version. FYI, Ira and I working getting the full version on the Club Cafe as a PDF. I would also like Ira to create a bivio-only version which contains screen snapshots. Unfortunately, we're overcommitted here, or we'd do this ourselves. If anybody wants to create a bivio year-end tutorial, we'll gladly pay you for your time. Email me directly if you want and have the skills to do this. Cheers, Rob Well, this is very interesting. The document I printed was the one from the library. I'm glad it was pointed out here that all mention of bivio was deleted. I just went to this website, and printed page 1 as a pdf, and printed page 2 as a pdf, so I have a 16page document and a 13 page document, with no attachments: to see the attachments, I have to read it online at stockcentral, which I can do, but is a pain. Too bad this was "redacted," I had to look up the meaning of that word! but now it is really a CAO/iclub document... I just printed and read the full version of your workshop on Tax End Preparation over at Stock Central, that included the bivio information. http://www.stockcentral.com/community/tabid/143/forumid/289/tpage/1/view/Topic/postid/1739/language/en-US/Default.aspx One question: how do we deal with the 4 members who withdrew from the club in 2007? We sold some stock but most transferred appreciated stocks to them; it was about 1/2 our portfolio value. Thanks, Carol (and Etana) Carol,
You really don't have to 'deal with those 4 members who
withdrew'. The software will take care of it. You should give each of them a
copy of their withdrawal distribution statement along with their K-1. The k-1
will tell them their share of the club's 2007 earnings/loss to report. The
withdrawal statement will tell them what gain/loss, if any, they have to report
from their disposition of their club interest. It will also tell them the cost
basis of any stock that was transferred to them.
Rip West Saint Paul, MN Thanks. I see that bivio records for 2007 wont' be ready until Feb 1. Should we have our audit meeting before that or after that? Thanks, Carol Rip West wrote: > Carol, > > You really don't have to 'deal with those 4 members who |
