We have been using the penny method of individual deposit
amounts for 3 months now, and bivio still does not recognize
the uniqueness of the deposit and automatically assign the
transaction to a person. That's my understanding of what
was to happen. I have to go in and manually assign the
person to the deposit. What am I missing?

I'm uncertain if Bivio automatically posts the deposit to the individual
member. I believe that the penny method only allows you to identify which
member's check was deposited. You must still match them manually.

If you deposit several member's payments on one deposit slip and one is
missing from the brokerage statement, you can identify which one it was.

I do not use this method as I want all members values on the Member's Status
Report to be identical. I have a form on which I record the check number of
each member's deposit. It's no big deal to do this.

Should a check be missing, It's not too difficult to locate the missing
one.

I've been treasurer of two clubs for a total of 16 years, and have only have
had one instance of a missing check.

Actually, bivio matches payments automatically. I think Ellen is
referring to the
fact that we require her to click OK every month to verify that indeed bivio's
matches are correct.

At this time, we feel it's important to involve the treasurer every
time payments
are deposited. It's a few clicks, but it should take less than a
minute to verify
things look ok. Checks get lost, and payment amounts are sometimes incorrect.
It's not a bad thing to review what bivio enters automatically for you.

Arthur, a complete example of the workflow for member payments is found in
The One Minute Treasurer(tm) guide:
