Portfolio performance chart The one thing that I miss about CA2 compared to Bivio is the portfolio performance graph. Any chance that Bivio will incorporate something like this in the future? Also, why can't the last 2 columns of the investment performance report be incorporated into the valuation report? rmorita writes: > The one thing that I miss about CA2 compared to Bivio is the > portfolio performance graph. While we understand many people would like to see their portfolio performance charted, we also know that graphs can be a distraction in apples-to-apples performance comparison. I suggest you look at your Performance Benchmark Report as a means to understanding your club's performance. With this report, you get an apples-to-apples comparison on performance. You can "dice and slice" it over any period you like, which helps to understand how your performance results differ over the years. If you are curious to learn more, you may want to read "The Only Performance Number You'll Ever Need": http://www.bivio.com/club_cafe/files/TheOnlyPerformanceNumber.pdf It's a talk we give at investment fairs to help people understand why we focus on AIRR. > Also, why can't the last 2 columns of the investment performance > report be incorporated into the valuation report? We have designed our reports to work for the "average" computer screen. Also, when reports have too much information, they can be confusing. Each report satisfies a different purpose. If you are curious about how we design visual information at bivio, I recommend reading The Visual Display of Quantitative Information: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0961392142/biviocom-20 The book gives plenty of examples of how display information in a way that it is accessible. Often, people will introduce charts for "flash", which in reality obscures the information being presented. At bivio, we believe in clarity of information above all else. Cheers, Rob |
