Dividends What is the difference between "Dividend" and a "Qualified Dividend"? If I am not sure what the dividend is, how should I enter them? Royal Schnell Royal, a qualifed dividend is a dividend on stock you have held over 60 days during the period surrounding the ex-dividend date. You enter them under the Dividend screen, either for cash, or Reinvested, whichever your is. The ex-dividend date will determine whether or not it is qualified at the end of the year. Qualified dividends have a lower tax rate, that is the only difference. Gene Rooks, Orlando |
