Club Index New bivioan has questions regarding "Club Index" which appears on the bivio home page: * Does the "Current" listing indicate that there are 8,006 clubs currently active on the bivio roll? Is that number determined by the number of active clubs at the close of trading on Friday, 2/9/07? * What does the red "-69" figure located beside the 8,006 figure indicate? * For "Top Club Holdings", does the 29% figure indicate that 2,321 clubs own Home Depot? (.29 X's 8006). And, thus, is Home Depot the number one owned stock among bivio club portfolios? I have searched the archives for a clear explanation of the "Club Index" guidelines but I am still confused. Hopefully, a seasoned veteran of bivio can help me with my questions. Thank you. The portfolio is weighted by the aggregate holdings of clubs in our system. > * What does the red "-69" figure located beside the 8,006 > figure indicate? It went down by -69 from the prior trading day. > * For "Top Club Holdings", does the 29% figure indicate that > 2,321 clubs own Home Depot? (.29 X's 8006). And, thus, is > Home Depot the number one owned stock among bivio club > portfolios? No, we filter the clubs whose portfolios are included in the Top Club Holdings and Club Index to throw out outliers. One of the tricky things about having a public index like this is to avoid spammers and scammers trying to pull it in one direction or the other. Our self-selection bias is that the customers are using bivio for their accounting. All other "stock picking" indexes we know of use survey-based aggregations which have a strong self-selection bias. If you know of other neutral "stock picking" indexes, please let us know. > I have searched the archives for a clear explanation of the > "Club Index" guidelines but I am still confused. We took a lot of time to design it, and we spend time to maintain it. Thanks for your interest! Rob |
