Portfolio Review
How do different clubs manage portfolio reviews? We do this
every qtr, but find it hard to coordinate this with dates
of company qtrly reports so that our info is timely. How
often, and what process do you use to review your entire
portfolio. Thanks again, Nancy
Hi Nancy,

Mark already answered the VL question, so I'll tackle the portfolio review.
Our club used to review every stock every month. But that left little time
for education, which we believe is the cornerstone of the club. So we
switched to quarterly reviews. The stock watcher is responsible for
reviewing the company at the meeting immediately following the quarter end.
So, if the quarter ended on June 30, the stock watcher would be responsible
for updating us on the conference call at the August meeting.

Think this isn't timely? Consider this: Most companies report 15-25 days
after the month end. So that would put the June quarterly conference call
around July 20th. Our meeting is the 2nd Tuesday. And that's only 3 weeks
or so away. To help keep this straight, we created a schedule for this. You
can find it (Quarterly Stock Report Schedule) on our website under Club
Documents.

We tend to keep in touch through our message board between meetings. One
member is very diligent about watching ALL stocks, so she usually gives us a
brief update when earnings releases come out. That's sufficient for us. We
don't make decisions between the meetings.

However, we do have an open discussion segment. There, all stocks of
interest are discussed, whether or not they had an earnings release.

Hope that helps,

Lynn Ostrem, President
