Cendent distribution

Cendent distribution How do I enter the Cendent Distribution of Realogy and Wyndhan? I know the amount of stock I received for both, but I don't know what to do to add 2 plus reduce the tax basis of Cendant. Thanks Sam NJPDIC@bivio.com Sam,
All spinoffs are a little unusual, but this one is even
more so, because Cendant spun off two companies, Realogy [H] and Wyndham [WYN].
Per the instructions at www.cendant.com/investors/cd-wyn-real_tbi.html,
42.5% of the original cost of Cendant should go to H and 41.5% should go to WYN.
Cendant will be 16% of its original amount. That's fairly clear, but it gets
tricky, because all the accounting software only allows you to enter 1 spun off
company at a time. Therefore, you should do this in exactly the following
sequence.
Go to Accounting!Spinoff. Enter CD for the Ticker.
Enter H for the Spin-off ticker. Enter 8/1/06 as the date. Enter the number of
shares, including fractional shares, of H that you received. Enter 57.5 for the
remaining basis percentage. Don't click on Calculate. Enter any cash received in
lieu of fractional shares, and indicate the account where this cash was
received. Enter an appropriate remark and click OK.
That takes care of Realogy. Now to enter Wyndham. I
suspect that it's not really necessary to enter this spin off on a separate
date, but it won't hurt to make sure. Therefore, go to
Accounting!Spinoff. Enter CD for the Ticker. Enter WYN for the
Spin-off ticker. Enter 8/2/06 as the date. Enter the number of shares, including
fractional shares, of WYN that you received. Enter 27.8261 for the
remaining basis percentage. Don't click on Calculate. Enter any cash received in
lieu of fractional shares, and indicate the account where this cash was
received. Enter an appropriate remark and click OK.
That should do it. Let us know if you have any
questions.
Rip West Saint Paul, MN Thanks for your help with WYN and H, now what do I do with CAR? Before the change, we have 243.8 shares of Cendet at $2.0 per now our Bivio Valuation shows that I we have 243.8 share CAR at 19.1 share per. I think the share should be 24.38 @ 19.1 per. How do I fix this? sam Rip West wrote: > Sam, > > All spinoffs are a little unusual, but this one is even > more so, because Cendant spun off two companies, Realogy [H] and Wyndham [WYN]. > Per the instructions at www.cendant.com/investors/cd-wyn-real_tbi.html, > 42.5% of the original cost of Cendant should go to H and 41.5% should go to WYN. > Cendant will be 16% of its original amount. I don't understand. What does CAR have to do with this?
That's the symbol for Avis. We were talking about Cendant, Wyndham, and Realogy.
Is it possible that CAR got mixed up with CD [Cendant]?
If you want to invite me to your club as a guest, I can
take a look to see if I can figure anything out.

Saint Paul, MN All I know is that I did not enter or change CD to CAR. Then I looked at the news for CD and this is what I found. "Avis Budget Group, Inc. (NYSE: CAR) announced that it will begin trading today on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "CAR" after giving effect to a one-for-ten reverse stock split. Avis Budget Group was formerly known as Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD)". Its even spell wrong under our club as AVID BUDGET. I'll invite you. Thanks for your Help. Ok, now I have also looked at the news for Cendent and
Avis. It appears to me that all you have to do, now, is enter the reverse split
- 1 for 10, and your shares will be as you thought they should be.
