taxes again...business codes
i may have to call the FTB but i figured i'd ask my
questions here first.

FIRST: in my state tax book (CA), it states that the
principal business code (supposedly the same # for federal)
for investment clubs should be 523910. however when i looked
at my federal forms from bivio, the code # is 525990. should
i change the code on my federal forms to match my state code
or should i just leave the federal # that bivio entered?

SECOND: does anyone know what the Secretary of State file
number is and where i can find it? apparently i'm supposed
to enter it on the partnership's state form.

thanks for any help you can give. kim
Kim,

The IRS instructions for form 1065 has a slightly different list than
other publications. The 525990 code we use if from that list. I'd
leave it that way, although the 523910 is likely acceptable as well.

California's secretary of state is Kevin Shelley, at (916) 653-6814.
