club_cafe: children as members It can certainly be done and there are no special permits required. I would caution you from the contract law statutes that are in place regarding contract arrangements with minors. Any person under the age of 18 can walk away from a contract without any penalty. Minors are usually not 'liable' for their actions and you just need to factor that in. If you are set up as a partnership, I would do some investigation as to partnership status for minors in your state as there are variances in state statutes. One example that comes to mind would be in whether to have the minor sign your partnership agreement: even with his/her signature the minor does not have any legal duty to abide by the terms and conditions contained in your agreement. -----Original Message----- From: Timothy Baumann [mailto:baumannte@bivio.com] Sent: Friday, February 14, 2003 6:48 PM To: club_cafe@bivio.com Subject: club_cafe: children as members Does anyone know if children under the age of 18 can be official members of an investment club? If so how does one go about doing this legally? Does anyone have samples of permission slips or whatever it takes. Thanks |
