club_cafe: Re: Stocks/Industry Groups

For a fast education on industry sectors I suggest going to AMEX.COM.
They have a section on S&P sector funds and they show a listing of the
companies that make up each sector.

ALSO > Thanks to everyone who contributes to the Bivio thread. This area
seems to be contributed to by serious investors who really care about
investment club issues.

Here is a list that was part of an article covering the
outlook of different sectors. It is by no means
comprehensive, but does come in around your 20-25 number
range. It was part of an article on realmoney.com, a
subscription site, otherwise I'd paste a link to the
article.

Aerospace and Defense
Airlines
Automobiles
Beverages and Food Products
Biotechnology
Commercial Banks
Computers and Peripherals
Consumer Nondurables
Energy Equipment & Services
HMOs and Hospitals
Homebuilding
Insurance
Integrated Oil
Internet, Software Services
Investment Bankers and Brokers
Media
Multiline Retail
Pharmaceuticals
Precious Metals
Semis, Semi Equipment
Telecom Equipment
Tobacco and Alcohol
Utilities
Wireless Communications
