What to do with profits?
Hello all,

Our club has decided to more actively manage our account.
We originally were very buy-and-hold oriented, but decided
that we would set stop-loss order limits on all our stocks.
We also agreed to begin selling portions of our
well-performing stocks, so we wouldn't see profits
evaporate.

My question is, is anyone else doing this, and, if so, how
are you managing the re-investment of the realized gains? I
want to leave it in the Money Market account until enough
accumulates to purchase t-bills, but there is a lot of
resistance to that idea within the club. Any ideas or
thoughts appreciated.

Regards,
Eliz.
As to what to do with your profits I think that is only a
decision that your club can make. I would a comment on your
statement that you want to sell portions of well-performing
stocks so you won't see profits evaporate. Be careful that
you just aren't selling stocks simply to lock in profits on
a specific stock because that doesn't make sense from an
investment perspective. It may make sense to take money out
of the market in general but related to specific stocks It
is only from a psychological perspective that makes sense
unless you are selling for fundamental reasons related to
specific stocks.

Best of luck.
