New Member Fees?
I was wondering, when adding new members, should we as a
club "charge" a new member to enter our club? We, the
original members, had to pay to start the club (lawyer fees,
state treasurer fees and bivio fees). I'm just curious if
anyone else charges a one time fee to join or am I out of
line with my thinking?

Thanks,

Jim

Jim - We charge new members a $50 fee. We think this is fair due to the
start-up and operational expenses the existing members have already paid.

We, too, charge a new member fee. My only comment is to make
sure that your partnership agreement clearly states that
there is a fee and how much the fee is.

Our club doesn't charge a fee per se, but we do require that
all new members' initial contribution is equal to or greater
than the amount the founding members paid when we started
the club (this is in our Partnership Agreement/Bylaws). We
think this is fair to both the founding members and new
members.

Every new member invest the same amount as the founding
members fees included. Also our bylaws make it harder for a
member of less than two years to leave the club.
