Our club just received 22 shares of Agere and a few dollars
from the Lucent/Agere spinoff. Some of the cash was for
fractional shares of preferred stock and some was for
fractional shares of common. Any advice on how to enter this
transaction in to bivio and NAIC Club Accounting 1.04? I'm
a bit confused by the two classes of stock.

In bivio, you need to enter two spinoffs as follows:

                        Ticker: LU
               Spin-off Ticker: AGRA
              Transaction Date: 6/1/2002
                        Shares: 0.010779
    Remaining Basis Percentage: 99.2864
                 Cash Received: <Cash in lieu for AGRA>

                        Ticker: LU
               Spin-off Ticker: AGRB
              Transaction Date: 6/1/2002
                        Shares: 0.264563
    Remaining Basis Percentage: 82.332021
                 Cash Received: <Cash in lieu for AGRB>


The Remaining Basis for AGRB has been adjusted to account for the AGRA
spinoff. Don't use the 81.7445 number Lucent gave, because it assumes
a single transaction.

You can enter the spinoffs in either order in bivio.
