Bank account
Can anyone give me the name of a bank that has a "no frills" checking option foran investment club ?

You know, no minimum balance, no fees, etc.

Thanks in advance
Our club uses the Money Market Account available with our
brokerage account at Bidwell. They accept any number of
monthly input checks and we can write an unlimited number of
payment checks. All with out any fees and the account pays
a monthly interest.

IIze,

Thanks for the information. I do have one more question for you though. Do you have a minimum balance requirement ?

No minimum balance required ! You also get free real time
quotes - via some formula. I do all our stock buys and
sells via the internet. Our club has been with them since
1994 with no problems. They are a discount broker - no
advice. Check them out. www.bidwell.com

Hi llze,

I just came from Bidwell's site and spoke to a rep.
concerning opening a Club acct. The Rep. stated, "that there
were no check writing offered on club accts".

Not sure why there is a differents between to the info.
you're giving and what they're saying, but I just figured it
need to be pointed out. Maybe it's because you're a long
time valued customer with a large holding (the rep. hinted
about $10K accts. getting some breaks).

Before giving up on Bidwell, I would try calling them again
and speaking to another "representative". I don't think
they really know or care about "NAIC" clubs. Admittedly
our club has been with them before their internet days and
our stock portfolio is over xx. But sometimes we only have
a dollar in the "cash" / Money Market / whatever name
account. The club is a partnership does have a name and EID
number and the Treasurer is the contact person.

"
Alliance money funds have minimum balance
requirements, which fluctuate at the discretion
of Bidwell & Company. If you do not specify a
money fund, your available cash will be held in
either the Alliance Money Reserves fund
(noted as Money Market on your account) or as
cash depending on the minimum balance
requirements. However, regardless of the
balance, both Alliance Money Reserves and
cash currently earn the same competitive yield.
Upon settlement date, your available funds will
automatically sweep to and from your money
market account or cash.
