The Answer is Here - Graph your Club's Daily NAV! Greetings fellow Bivio users! I have seen a number of requests on the boards for a means to graph your club’s daily NAV. I had a similar problem for my club and created an automated utility to “fetch” this data from Bivio and capture it in a very professional graph. Unfortunately, the utility itself isn’t user-friendly enough to offer to anyone directly, but I would be more than happy to run the tool for you from my local machine. I would love to offer this service for free; however, it ties up my machine for a significant amount of time, and there is some manual work required to prep the graphs. For this reason, I am charging a nominal fee of $2.50/rolling quarter (or partial quarter), with a minimum fee of $10. For example, a graph from 12/15/2000-03/15/2002 would encompass roughly 5 rolling quarters, and would cost $12.50 to generate. Running the utility will require me to have access to a valid username (or email address) and password capable of accessing your club and generating the NAV report. I realize that this may concern some folks, and can definitely sympathize. If you have any concerns about security, please back up your data prior to sending me your login info by clicking “Administration-Tools-Export Club Data” from within your club’s site, and change the password immediately after you receive your report. CAUTION – do NOT post your login information on this board! Email me directly with that info! If you have further questions or would like to see a sample of one of my NAV graphs, please email me at yhstokes@swbell.net. Requests to have NAV graphs generated should include beginning and ending dates, as well as login information. I accept payment via PayPal.com. Payments may be sent to yhstokes@swbell.net. Thanks! Mike yhstokes@swbell.net One last note - The NAV report includes a comparison w/ the S&P 500. In other words, your graph will show 2 lines, one for your port, and one for the index. Hope this helps! If you simply plot the value of the S&P 500 over time for comparison with the club value, I don't think that is particularly interesting or useful. On the other hand, if you model the value of the cash investments in the club as if they had been made in the S&P 500 and compare that value over time with the actual club value, I would find that a very interesting and useful comparison. -Jim Thomas Good question. A divisor is applied to the S&P 500 value on the 1st day of your graph. That same divisor is then applied to each following day. For example, if on day 1 of your graph your club's NAV was 10 and the index was at 1000, the divisor would be 100, and the index would read on your graph as 10 (to match your club NAV). Let's say that on day 2 the index rose to 1100. Applying that same divisor, day 2 would read 11 on your graph. It would still reflect a 10% gain, but it would be priced relative your club's NAV. I hope that helps. Send me an email @ yhstokes@swbell.net if you'd like to see a sample graph to clarify. Thanks! It's very easy IF you know what you're doing. I'm sure most people wouldn't have a clue how to do this! Good luck with this great idea!
