Handling "cash in lieu" on reinvested dividends My brokerage statement lists a reinvestment transaction using multiple line items. For example: IBM DIV $16.26 IBM REINV 0.168 shr @ $96.71 IBM REINV CSH IN LIEU $0.01 Q: Does Bivio handle the cash in lieu automatically if I enter a single transaction IBM REINV $16.26 for 0.168 shrs? Or, do I have to enter separate transactions? Thanks, Ed. A cash in lieu transaction is handled automatically by our Reinvest form. You can learn more about it at: http://www.bivio.com/hp/investment-transactions.html Rob Hi Rob, You stated that, "A cash in lieu transaction is handled automatically by our Reinvest form." Now I read the info. on your link but it didn't see anything about CIL (Cash In Lieu) being done automatically. I also tried it at my demo site but couldn't get the updated info. to show anything more then an increased dividend added to a set share amount. Also no CIL listed in cash accounts. Please explain this auto feature with CIL? Because I've been entering each line item separately. Thanks Robert Nagler wrote: > Edward Hill III wrote: > > Q: Does Bivio handle the cash in lieu automatically if I > > enter > > a single transaction IBM REINV $16.26 for 0.168 shrs? > > You can do either. One of our engineers pointed out my failure, too. CIL is not handled by our Reinvest form. It is handled on splits and other investment transactions. Typically, there isn't any CIL on DRPs, so we didn't add it to the form. For a DRP with CIL, you need to enter the DRP and then enter the CIL as an ordinary dividend. Sorry about the incorrect information and thanks for pointing out the error for the bivio community! Rob |
