Recently our club had to payout a withdrawing member ,our account on bivio now shows the member with no units in the club but yet under the column 'paid' a sum of money remains.Does this mean we still owe that member a sum of money?

No, the amount shown indicates that the amount paid in was greater than the amount paid out, i.e. there was a net loss.
