What stocks do you like? Personally, I think the brokerage sector is an excellent long-term bargain right now. MER & LEH are the two best in my opinion. I also think CHKP is a good buy at these levels. CHKP up 20% since I mentioned it 2 days ago... This stock is a beast. I am a great stock picker. It is the long term picks that are more impressive. A year ago I purchased BBBY and at this point in time I am enjoying a greater then 53% return. Which never went below a 30% during the "bear market". I by no means "rule" but even the blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while. If you had bought OCA yesterday it was up almost 70% and is up again today. For the long term (next 5 yrs) take a look at BBBY, NOK, HMA, WEN, CPQ, and others. Just my two cents... Our club has been around for 3 1/2 years now, and although I must admit that we have been "pounded" over the past 12 months, we continue to believe the best purchases are of "beaten down", "proven" companys. We hold a core of 12 stocks, all of which we continue to "cost down" on. 3 of our largest holdings are JDSU, CSCO and INSP. So, as you can see, we continue to believe technology is the course for the future. |
