Electronic Return Filing through Bivio
HelpRegister |
The expanded size of the club filing for federal taxes took us by surprise but we understand that it is a new requirement - our club's return has 129 pages and weighed about 2 pounds. From past discussions of electronic filing it's apparent that it's a significant effort for Bivio to get set up as a federal provider but my club would be happy to pay an extra fee to have Bivio electronically file our tax forms going forward. We typically send our paper forms certified mail with a return receipt and it will likely cost upwards of $20 to send this year with postage and fees. We would love to see Bivio consider this for next year - analyzing the cost of development and support and come up with a price and number of participating clubs needed to offset the expense. I would agree with this.

I concur, this may not have been a sensible business move for Bivio in the past, but conditions have clearly changed and hopefully they can consider electronic filing going forward. I cannot see why it would not be worth a reasonable increase in cost for most clubs.

Agree. Our club has 27 members, Federal return is 300 pages of which we need 4 copies (one to PA). Postage was $38. Plus copies, plus envelopes, plus time.
I would bet at least 90% of the clubs would e-file. Some won't because they had to have an accountant /tax preparer to do it.
Has anyone come up with an answer to this issue? I am our club treasurer and had about 20 partners in 2021. 242 pages. In 2022, our partnership will likely exceed 50 partners. We are at 39 active right now. Sending in the 1065, including printing, postage, and paper is outrageous. Looking for a solution? Oh my, what happened to increase your partnership so drastically? Living in a state with no income tax, so no requirement to file state, but our fed is and has been electronic filing for years. I'm wondering why electronic filing is not available to everyone. Can someone suggest a secure method and location (public place) to print the information because the state and federal returns total over 200 pages? Thanks for your input. Ours was 422 pages....we UPS'ed it....if you go to the instruction portion on the 1065 form page, it gives you the address where to send it and with the tracking # it's just like return receipt -----Original Message-----

How much did it cost? Peter Dunkelberger
FYI. I normally send tax returns by certified mail from the post office without requesting a receipt. This year, I was told the priority mail receipt was just as good proof. Priority mail is often the best way to send things, but I was told it would still take 3 days to get to downtown Chicago from my Philadelphia suburb.
I had mine copied at Office Depot. Very reasonable.
