How to download PDF of K-1 for members who can't do it themselves?
Linda Glein on
I have two or three members whom I will need to get the PDF
to them of their K-1.
Is there an efficient way to do this?
I will probably take the entire PDF of the 1065 to Office
Depot and have them print a copy (or two) so I can mail the
entire 140 pages to IRS.
Most of my members have access and are capable of accessing
and downloadintg their own PDF.
But I have 1 deceased member, 1 former member and 1 not
really competent member, and I need to generate something
quickly for them.
Is there a way for me, as treasurer, to access their K-1
without trying to breakdown the entire 1065 PDF into
sections? I tried unchecking the box for giving members
access to their own K-1's but that didn't seem to open up
access for me to get them individually. Not that I could
see.
As you all know, we haven't got a lot of time to get this
done. Plus, I have to do it for 2 clubs.

Linda:
You can isolate the K-1 pages (which include the K-3 pages, if applicable) as follows:
1. Open the pdf file containing the 1065 and all K-1s.
2. Scroll to the first page of the first K-1 of the person who you want to provide a paper copy. Note what the page number is in the pdf document. Then scroll to the end of that person's K-1. Note that page number.
3. Click the "print" command for the document, choose the option to print only some pages and enter the pages in this format nn-nn.
4. Repeat for other persons.
If you want pdf files containing just the individual member's K-1, change your printer from the ink printer to a pdf printer.
Or after printing a hard copy of the whole document, pull out the appropriate pages and make additional copies of just them.
I don't know a way to breakdown the whole 1065 file into components otherwise.

I use a free product called PDFtk which will read a PDF and extract a range of pages to another PDF file and it can be encrypted if wanted. I process all 21 members with one batch file. You can also print from a PC to the Printer called "Microsoft Print to PDF" and print selected pages and save to a new file.

Thank you both Jack and Norman.
Yes, I can do that.
But, because individuals can access their own K-1's already, I had hoped that the Treasurer could get at those w/o going through those extra steps.

If you can see what the page numbers are you can selectively print those pages.

At the bottom of the Accounting>Taxes page, there is an "Expert Taxes" link.
If you click on it, it takes you to a page where each members K-1 (includes K-3 also) forms are listed separately.
If the members withdrew, you just have to give them a withdrawal report in addition to the forms at those links. You can find those if you go to Accounting>Reports>Withdrawal Reports.

Laurie,
If we filed for extension and are able to mail return before March 15, do we need to do anything? Or just mail it certified as usual?

Thank you, Laurie.
That is exactly the information I needed. I simply hadn't noticed the Expert Tax link.
Again, thank you.

You can get to the member PDFs by clicking on Expert Taxes at the
bottom. This will list each member and allow you download just
their part.
