Is it common practice or required for the Club Secretary to
read the minutes from the previous meeting as part of the
Agenda? One club member suggested we just read them
individually on line before the meeting and then motion to
pass them as read or corrected?

Susan,
Our secretary emails the minutes ahead of the meeting, we print them out and read them. Corrections are offered at the meeting if necessary. They are then approved. Very fast and we all have a copy plus file to archive.

Reading the minutes at the meeting takes time out of the meeting for something that can be done by all at home.
Read them at home and submit corrections prior to the meeting.
We have much better things to do with our meeting time.

We go one easier step beyond. We upload the minutes to bivio and partners go there to review and ask about corrections and expansions at the meeting. The updated minutes are then uploaded. Nobody makes a hard copy.

Our Secretary emails the minutes a couple of days before the meeting. Any changes can be added, rarely happens and then they are approved at the start of the meeting.

We also email in advance, will ask for any discussion on the meeting minutes as sent and, to be covered, include in the motion "to waive the reading of the minutes".
We also try and send out by the week after our prior meeting to a) make sure the approved transactions are correct and b) help inform anyone who may have missed the meeting.

I am wondering if the same comments are applicable to the treasurer's report. Our practice is the treasurer emails his report to all members and then reviews it at the meeting.

In my club we post both the treasurer's report and meeting minutes on Bivio and also email them to members via Bivio.
