I have three dividend payments recorded in January in Bivio but not on my TDAmeritrade 1099
The stocks are HACK on January 2, JPST on January 3 and SPY on January 31.
Anyone know how this happens and if it is worth contacting TDAmeritrade?

We also have SPY. The dividend for January 31, 2020 was reported on 2019 1099. The dividend for January 29, 2021 is reported on 2020 1099. That is the way it always works. I can't help on the others. ETF have funny reporting practice.

Peter,
I don't understand your statement, please expound. As a calendear year document, I would think that means it would cover from January to December of a particular year, as opposed to say, March to February.

the 1099 is a calendar year document. You won't find January payments in the 1099 for the year which ended 12/31.

For many ETF's and all REIT's, dividends received in January are reported (or partially reported) as prior year dividends. You know that when you see a dividend listed on the 2020 1099 that has a January date on it.
In that case, you need to manually edit the dividend entry in bivio that was made in January and adjust the date on it to 12/31/2020 so it is reported in the correct tax year.
If only part of the January amount was reported in 2020, split the entry into two different dividend entries. One for the amount reported as 2020 income on 12/31/2020 and the rest with the January 2021 date on it.

Hi Dan,
I am sorry that I was not more specific. I presumed the question below asked why there were payments in January of 2021 recorded in Bivio but did not appear on the 2020 1099. Apparently the real question was why payments in January 2020 did not appear on the 2020 1099. As the relevant years are not mentioned in the question, if the case is that there were payments in January of 2020 appearing in Bivio but not in the 2020 1099, I would look at the 1099 for 2019. If they are not there, then it would be time to call TDA.

Thanks Peter,
A little more thought on my part regarding the original question probably would have led me to not ask mine. In any case, I understand and thank you for your follow-up to address any combination of the years in question.
Thanks again!
