ETFS
The other day you mentioned ETFs and how they may differ in their tax consequences. Not wanting to put any un do burden on our Treasurer at tax time, is there a way that we can find out which ones are reported just like a stock so we may invest in them? Thank you. Hi, There is no such comprehensive list. There are too many ETF's and too many different types. Any commodity, MLP or REIT ETF's are a big problem. Other than that, many ETF's require manual dividend reclassifications and changes in dates of January dividends when you get your 1099 and before you can prepare your taxes. It is best to send a ticker you are considering purchasing to us to research for you so we can give you a specific answer before you purchase it. Hope that helps. I recommend it if you don't want to pay taxes on dividends and better than money sitting in cash. Alessandro
