Investment Clubs using www.folioinvesting.com as their online broker
Jonathan A, Wells on
Gentle-people:
I have interacted with a small group of people (all of whom have used www.drivewealth.com
as their broker), and I am exploring the possibility of us creating an investment club using www.folioinvesting.com as its broker.
On their and my behalf, we would be very grateful for 'leads' as to investment club members
of 'Club Cafe' that use folioinvesting as their online broker.
Also, if one or more of you have an investment policy/philosophy that's compatible with one or
more of my colleagues, and are open to considering new members, I think you would find members of my group well worth considering as new members (they have been extraordinarily
effective [and in some cases, successful!] as new investors [and they are all 'millenial' age, or
close to it]). I'm very grateful for whatever help you can provide. Best regards, Jonathan (Wells)

Run from Folio. Don't even look back. They are not club friendly. Every stock transfer to a withdrawing member is a bonafide PITA. They want every club member to sign for the transfer in the presence of a notary. Come on now! My club only uses them since they took over MyStockBroker.Com which was very club friendly. Just stick with TDAmeritrade. It's club friendly. Has lots of useful research reports, a great stock screener and competitive trade costs. We are in the process of transferring our entire portfolio from Folio to TD. Of course, we have to find a notary to attend a meeting in which we have 100% attendance. Run I tell ya!

Bob,
Has your club treasurer ever performed a stock transfer or cash
withdrawal yet? My club is finding it virtually impossible to work with
them.

Cash withdrawals but not stock transfers. Our biggest issue is only one signature on checks (happens to be mine). We must not have told Folio about all partners as we've paid out several by writing checks and don't send revised membership list when new partners are added.

Mike & Kim Potter on
I'm the treasurer for our club and we have used Folio for a number of years. We don't do stock transfers. When they instituted the cash hold it took me awhile to figure out how to work with that - but we're doing okay now.
They've been very helpful to me when I've called to have them explain things.
I wish you well with your decision.

I am the treasurer and just make a copy of the deposit slip each month with all members names on the deposit form and add their check number and amount. We haven't had a problem
