Rockwood Holdings
Our investment club had an investment in Rockwood Holdings that was converted to Albemarle. I can't figure out how to put the conversion in to get the LTCG to show up correctly on our 1099-B statement. It is showing up, but the amount doesn't match our 1099-B and it is uneditable. Has anyone else had the same problem?
This was a taxable exchange.

You received $50.65 in cash and .4803 shares of ALB per share of ROC. Each ALB share you received was worth $59.7162.

The total value you received per share of ROC was:

$50.65 + .4803*($59.7162) = $79.33

So you enter a sale of your ROC shares for $79.33 each on 1/12/2015

Then you enter a purchase of ALB on 1/12/2015. You purchased .4803 Shares of ALB times the number of ROC shares you held. Purchase price for the ALB shares is $59.7162 each.

These calculations are based on the information the company provided. There may be slight variations in ALB share price that your broker used. If you still have difficulties matching your 1099 after you make the entries above, send a copy of the 1099 to us at support@bivio.com and we can let you know what further adjustments you may need to make.

If you received fractional shares of ALB, you would then enter a sale of the fractional shares for the cash in lieu amount you received.
