Baxter and Baxalta
Can you explain how the Baxter and now Baxalta gets recorded in Bivio. We have our account linked to TD Ameritrade and I assumed that it would just sync. Need assistance

On 7/1/2015, there was a spinoff of BXLT from BAX. You received 1 share of BXLT for every share of BAX you owned as of the close of business on 6/17/2015.

The spinoff can be entered using the spinoff button on the Accounting>Investments page. The "Remaining Basis Percentage" that you need to enter on that form is shown by the company example as 55.2%

BAX spinoff of BXLT

You may have been eligible to receive fractional shares that would have been sold for "Cash In Lieu". You'll also need to enter that amount on the spinoff form.

If data about reorganizations like this are not provided in the data file we read from your broker, we have no way to enter them automatically for you. That is one of the reasons we tell you to make sure your cash balances and number of shares of each stock agree each month with what your broker shows. If there are any discrepancies, this makes it easy to find and correct any issues before they cause bigger problems and become more difficult to find.

We're also glad to make any reorganization entries for you. You just need to email us the information to support@bivio.com

Once all entries are made, it is very important to check that the cost basis for each lot of a stock that you own shown on the bivio Investment Lot Cost basis report agrees with what your broker shows on an "Unrealized gain/loss" report.

If not, further tweaks to the spinoff entries may be needed.

Hope that helps.
