how to account for "cash in lieu of" for DNOW spinoff
Hi,

Last year NOV performed a spinoff of DNOW on 6/2. We also
received cash in lieu of half a share in the amount of
$16.51. According to the 1099 from TD Ameritrade, the cost
basis was $15.81. I noticed that this transaction was not
automatically imported. What should be done to account for
this?

Thanks,

Andrew

Dear Andrew,

Cash in lieu is the amount you received for the sale of the fractional share you received in the spinoff. You should enter it as a sale of the fractional share for $16.51.

Laurie, How do you record the 'exchange' from Medtronics (MDT) Inc to Medtronics PLC?

I have the same question as Betty, how to make the entry for
the Medtronic exchange. Thank you.
