Other than the magazine, are there advantages that our club would miss out on if we dropped BI?

I like the on line seminars and the Stock Selection Guide we also use manifest Investing web site for managing our portfolio

Yes, We use the SSG online tool (years faster than doing it by hand) and the Stock Comparison Guide. These tools don't make the decisions for us, mind you. They just assure that we're all looking at the same information instead of working from a "hot tip".

If you have Toolkit, you don't actually need BI, but the data services they provide make it a lot easier to complete SSGs without spending hours entering financial data. If you prefer the online tools, you probably can't access them without BI membership.

I'll give you my take on the initial question and some of the follow-up comments.
As stated, Bivio and BetterInvesting (BI) aren't related; they have different subscriptions and uses.
There are three tools that create SSGs: The Core SSG, SSGPlus (both on-line SSGs available via BI), and Toolkit (available from ICLUBcentral). You need a subscription to BI to use either on-line tool; Toolkit can get data feeds from both BI and Stock Central, whichever you choose. (I choose both, as explained below.) Or, you can manually enter data into Toolkit (with information from other sources such as Value Line or Yahoo! Finance), but no thanks.
A subscription to BI provides the magazine, data, SSG tools and access to a lot of educational webinars, many of which are currently free to subscribers. (Some are free to anyone, so check them out.)
I also subscribe to Stock Central, which not only provides a data-feed, it also provides access to its tools. I like the stock screeners that Stock Central provides. There are several things about them that I like. A major one is that I can sort by size as determined by Sales/Revenue. Most others sort size by Capitalization. (And, as I understand it, Manifest Investing gives size by Projected Sales Growth.) ICLUBcentral also has another screener called Equity Research Service, which I believe is provided by a separate subscription.
I hope this helps.

Not having a BetterInvesting membership you will miss the opportunity to view the free webinars on investing topics that are valuable to you. Take some time sometime to check out what is available on the home page. These by themselves are more valuable than your subscription cost. Bivio also has free webinars available that just as valuable. Reap the benefits of both bivio and BetterInvesting.

My understanding is that iClub will not be making any upgrades to Toolkit as it was written for XP and so at some point it may become obsolete. Also, more companies are moving to the subscription model for programs to try yo improve earnings. That may hasten the demise of Toolkit. On a more positive note there are some things about the online tools, particularly SSG+, that I like better than Tooolkit.
