ETF's Our club has discussed buying ETF's. I thought there had been prior discussion on this subject, however I'm not able to locate it. Am interested in the pro and cons and any effect on the treasurer. Thanks ETFs sell the same as stocks. You can buy any time of day and pay a commission. They should pose no problem for your treasurer. Richard Pfeffer, Ph.D.On Mon, Jan 5, 2015 at 5:55 PM, <gmoots2@cox.net> wrote: Our club has discussed buying ETF's. It depends on the ETF. You should check with bivio support about the specific ETF you are thinking of buying before you purchase it. ETFs that track common stock indices shouldn't be a problem. ETFs that track commodities or precious metals will be a problem. Ira Smilovitz On Mon, Jan 5, 2015 at 5:55 PM, <gmoots2@cox.net> wrote: Our club has discussed buying ETF's. I am a co-founder of a passive investment club that started in August 2008. We invest strictly in 8 ETF's offered by Vanguard. We've never had a problem with Bivio and have been using them since day 1. Bob Mann The Passive (Investment) Club The problem isn't with ETFs in general, it's with specific ETFs. Just as a club shouldn't invest in PTPs (even though they look like common stocks), there are certain ETFs that bring massive accounting problems. It isn't always obvious from the name of the ETF. bivio support is here to help you keep your accounting simple.
