A professor named Bruce Tuckerman described 5 stages that groups go through.

They are Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and Adjourning.

From our perspective, we see clubs which fall in each of these categories on a regular basis. It's almost uncanny how spot on the descriptions are.

An interesting activity for an investment club meeting would be to read the articles and have a discussion about which stage your group is in.

An increased awareness of why your club may be experiencing certain types of behaviors may help you address any issues you are having in a constructive manner.

Conflict can be one of the strengths of group decision making. You just need to embrace it and not be frightened by it.
