change of ss# after filing
Mary (MICKEY) Frances Riemondy on 03/11/2013 GMT
A member just notifited me after I'd filed our return that
his social security number was incorrect. Must the club
file an amended return?
Laurie Frederiksen on 03/11/2013 GMT
Yes. The IRS does consider incorrect SS numbers on K-1
s an incomplete return.
We've had clubs that have gotten penalty charges because of this.
If you file the amendment prior to April 15, you will be fine because the return isn't due until then.

Is the same true if one member's SS# is not entered on the K-1?

Yes. You are looking at a potential penalty of $195/month times the number of partners in the partnership until the error is corrected.

Does bivio have a way to produce a 1065X?

Dear Linda,
bivio does not prepare the 1065x form that needs to go in with an amended return. However, once you make corrections, bivio will produce the corrected tax forms you need to send in with the 1065x. Just make sure you check the "amended" box at the top of any forms you send in.
Here is a link to the form 1065x and the instructions:
