Tax Question
What does the box that says "Expert Taxes"mean? Do I check
that?
Hi Lillian,

It is fine to check that box. When the tax program is ready and you prepare your taxes, it will allow you to see links to each of the forms individually.

There is really nothing to wait for if you have your 1099's. You can get the bulk of the work done that will need to be done to prepare your taxes right now. If you really want to be ready when the tax program is released, I'd recommend you check your 1099 against your bivio reports now.

Your ordinary dividend amount and interest shown on your 1099 should agree with the amount shown on the bivio income statement.

Your capital gains and losses and details of each transaction on your 1099 should also agree with what you will find on the bivio capital gains reports.

If all those things agree, your tax preparation will go very quickly. If they don't the sooner you can get them sorted out, the better. We are already seeing some strange stuff on some of the 1099's we have seen. Brokers are making mistakes on them. You don't want a delay in filing your taxes because you have to wait for them to reissue a corrected one.

We are a new club in 2012 and have less than $10 in interest/dividends and so TD Ameritrade will not be issuing a 1099.  What do we do?

You will still need to prepare and file a tax form. Just make sure your bivio records are reconciled to your brokerage statements so the information on your tax forms is correct. You still have to report income even if your broker doesn't send you a 1099.

Laurie,

Thanks, we have already reconciled our brokerage account with the Bivio records.

So, do we just wait until your program is ready for us to file our taxes?

Amy
