penny stock
OK, we admit we bought a penny stock. every now and then we
get bored i guess and this was one of those moments. our
purchase was apparently the kiss of death and RBCC., Rainbow
Coral Corporation is plummeting as I write. we didn't buy
a lot, so it's not a disaster, but the disaster is that
Bivio doesn' tseem to want anything to do with it. The value
of it remains at its original purchase price , including the
$9.99 commission for the trade. How do I correctly enter
the current value when i run the bivio valuation statement?
Apparently , as long s we own it I willl have to manually
valuate it for our meetings.

keeps life interesting. let me know! Deannie
Hi Deannie,

In bivio, a stock whose price needs to be updated manually is called an "Unlisted" stock.

As you have discovered, you will need to manually input its price every time you perform an action which requires a club valuation. This includes entering member payments and withdrawals, entering expenses allocated "equally" and running valuation reports.

When you make those entries, you should be prompted to enter the current price prior to completing them. You will also see a "Value Unlisted" button at the top of the Accounting>Investments list which you can use at any time to enter an updated price.

It is important to update to a correct price when making any of the entries noted above. Otherwise your club accounting will be off.

So your penny stock is cheap in dollars but a little more expensive in the amount of time it needs to account for it. There's always something!
