Smart Money was the first place I ran into market Heat Maps but this does seem like it is a very easy way to get both a broad overview and then drill down. The other thing I like is that in the broad view you can actually still read the ticker symbols at the company level so you quickly decide whether you even want to drill down on a particular company.
