How COOL is it that the last COOL_Club session of the year is also the last repetitive day of our lifetimes, 12/12/12. Or at least I don't think I will be around 88 years from now when New Years 2101 rolls around as 1/1/1.
Tonight we will be looking once again at Selling options on Index ETFs (SPY and IWM). Hope you will join us once again to look at this Covered Options strategy that I use as an income generator on the "cash" portion of my portfolio.
Paul.... I downloaded the cash secured put tool and it comes up as a read only file. I'm using a spreadsheet in Libreoffice which handles excel speadsheets. How can I get the tool in a format which can be changed, as far as data input?
Thanks,
Paul Schneider

In Excel when you first start it up there is a warning that the spreadsheet came from the internet and you have to "Enable Editing" to be able to use it. On Excel the Enable Editing button is at the top of the sheet.
The other thing I am not sure of is whether libreoffice will support macros or external content. The macro is used to clear the data. The external content is to get quotes from MSN.

I just talked with Laurie who is using a different version of Office and she also sees the read only like you are talking about. She says to get rid of that she just does a Save As and saves it where she wants it.You might want to try that.

Thanks Paul.... I'll try that and see what happens. The call spreadsheet works okay which is strange.

The Paul you are remembering remains active in his Granite Chapter
(Bedford New Hampshire) as you can see him leading the discussion
at the below link.
If you look in the files area you will also see he is still active
with his charting activity. He sticks to the hard copy charts he
has successfully used for many years.

Paul.... It seems to be working okay now. My daughter, Laura, saw the post and sent me a "fix" which involved saving the cool tool when you download it rather than having an application open it. Thanks for your help and I'm looking forward to trying the tool out. It looks like a winner! Libre does support macros and external content. The only bad thing about Libre is you get a bunch of "junk" when you download it..... I've been working on getting rid of the junk for about two weeks now!
