ETF Cool Tool Question
Cool Dude,

I am having an issue with the v2.12 Index ETF Cool Tool. In the Closing the Option tab, I get a #DIV/0! error for APR when I attempt to determine a reasonable BTC price.

Malcolm

Malcolm,

I am out and about right now but will take a look this evening and try to post a fix. I would bet it has to do with looking at an option that expires today and thus has zero days left (although it should still show 1 day since official expiration day is tomorrow....hmmm).

Soon as I have a fix I will let the Clubhouse know.

Ah I see now. I use a pretty simple date system and if you sell and then try to buy back on the same day then the lapsed time is zero days. Since the time the option is open is a divisor you get a divide by zero error. This weekend I can change the routine to consider the minimum time open to be one day rather than zero and this will correct the error. My apologies.

No worries.

I didn't want to hack the file.

I do un-protect the work sheets, set a print area, add the version and date to a header, set for one page wide and then protect the files again.

When I set up a trade, I print the spreadsheet onto a 8x11 lined paper. Then I can make my notes below and track my logic on the trades for each folder.

Put on an IWM trade today. Not sure it is going to work in my favor because I was listening to your talk about ETFs while reviewing graphs. I had placed the CSP when you said "IWM is more volatile and is a better play when the whole market is down as small caps can really move quickly"... oops. Hope my luck holds through turkey day!

Either way, I'll post to the group eventually.

Thanks,

Malcolm

I don't know if you have to fix anything. Unless you add a user input sell date other to the sheet rather than using the purchase date, it can't really be "fixed".

I like the KISS practice (Keep It Simple S...) that you've incorporated into the sheets. It needs to be simple, clear and easy to use so that we will use the spreadsheet. I was attempting to use the spreadsheet for a what if scenario... I'll just use a pencil and the little grey cells.
